Transition Llambed Development Trust awarded National Lottery funding for our COVID-19 Resilience project

TLDT has been awarded £9,000 from the National Lottery Community Support Fund, distributed by The National Lottery Community Fund(link is external) for our ‘Covid-19 Resilience Project. The project will run for approximately 6 months.

Covid-19 has continued to significantly impact members of our community and surrounding areas, many of whom have been left vulnerable dealing with poverty, let alone the possibility of catching the virus.

During our weekly Food Project where we distribute free food to members of our community struggling during the crisis, we hear from people who feel worn down, who are unsure what government advice on staying safe means for them and vulnerable people who are worried about working during the pandemic.

Alongside this, people living within the community continue to turn to us for assistance to make ends meet and relieve some pressure caused by the pandemic.

Since the pandemic started, members of our community have turned to us in record numbers for support due to Covid-19. This funding will help us to deliver our services and enable us to make some changes to make it easier for people who need support to find it.

We’ll also be able to provide health & well-being activities and classes to help relieve the mental strain of the pandemic. These services will help people living within our community further look after their mental health and stay safe during these difficult times.

The funding will also allow us to start our planned community involvement programme – which has had to be held off for the last few months.  We will work closely with people across the community to help shape our services and share lessons learnt from these.

We’re also looking to improve our volunteer programme too and make it easier for you to volunteer and support the vital work we do supporting the community.

John Moore – TLDT Chairman says:

The Covid-19 pandemic continues to have a devastating impact on our community and surrounding areas, with the closure of many businesses came many lost jobs, this causes an increase in lack of funds to make ends meet, not to mention the isolation and loneliness of life in lockdown.

Like many Trusts, Transition Llambed Development Trust has to been impacted at a time when demand for our vital services continue to grow.

This funding from the National Lottery Community Support Fund will ensure we can continue to deliver vital support to our community which we know makes a difference to people affected by the pandemic.

We’d like to thank the National Lottery for this funding – it will make a huge difference.

TLDT is requesting anyone who feels they maybe able to assist in supporting this project by offering their time and assistance to create health and wellbeing classes &activities to please contact us at info@vichall.org.uk
